I am a former Head of MFL, specializing in French and German, having started my teaching career in London over 30 years ago.  From 2007 until March 2010 I worked as a Regional Subject Adviser for MFL on the support programme for the revised secondary curriculum and was the Assistant national subject lead for languages in the third phase of this project. I have also contributed to the new GCSE French for OCR and AQA course books published by OUP.  I continue to teach languages part time, including some beginners’ Chinese, acquired on one of several stints living and working overseas.  I will be sharing my thoughts on how to enrich the language learning experience for pupils along with my experiences of learning and teaching Mandarin on this blog.
