Christmas songs in Chinese:
There are several versions of videos of Jingle Bells on the internet, but I think this one is probably the best for beginners as it’s confined mainly to the chorus and has the pinyin alongside the characters. If you are looking for a fuller version there’s this one, but this would be too difficult for beginners.
Still on the Christmas theme there is this video for We wish you a merry Christmas. The characters and pinyin are on the video as is the music but the words are not actually sung – shouldn’t be too difficult to work it out though!
Songs for Chinese New Year:
- This song has a simple animation to accompany the words (in characters and English)
- M-Girls often release albums at Chinese New Year; this medley includes a number of popular tunes
- This is yet another version of 恭喜恭喜
- Here is a version of 咚隆咚枪 – the opening and the refrain are very easy for learners to pick up
